1919 - Establishment of the hellenic coast guard

Political instability in Greece led Greek shipowners to operate from abroad. Eleftherios Venizelos, who was not re-elected at the 1920 elections, had left a positive mark in shipping with the establishment of the Hellenic Coast Guard in 1919.
