1926 - British miners’ strike

Τhe British miners’ strike in 1926, caused to the disappearance of British coal from the market, leading to the emergence of new markets for the supply of this commodity. Many newcomers took advantage of the rising market and, with the financial support of fellow Greeks operating shipping offices in London, managed to acquire steamships, most of which sailed under the command of their new owners.
